Welcome to the website of Saskatchewan-based writer and nature photographer Kurt Kirchmeier. Here you’ll find news and links regarding recent and forthcoming short fiction and poetry releases, as well as general updates on what I am working on now (middle grade and young adult novels, for the most part). Follow the links on the right for more detailed information.

Thanks for stopping by.

A Quiet Shelter There

I’m happy to share that my reprint short story “A Charcoal Exchange” is now available in print or e-book in a new charity anthology from Hadley Rille Books called A Quiet Shelter There. The majority of the proceeds from this collection of animal-themed short stories and poems will go towards Friends of Homeless Animals rescue in Virginia, although other shelters may use it for fundraising as well. I hope you’ll do our furry friends a favor and purchase a copy at Amazon.com or Amazon.ca.

Best Of Horror Library

The good folks at Cutting Block Books have just released a new anthology titled “The Best of Horror Library: Volumes 1-5,” and I’m very happy to say that my short story “Obsidian Sea” is among the works they selected for the collection. It’s available here through Amazon.com.

New Story

My short story “Shades of the Past” is now live at the brand new and very cool Fantasy Scroll Magazine. I hope you’ll check it out here.
